Privacy policy

ScanBridge is a local-network barcode scanner. The Android app reads barcodes with your camera and sends the decoded text to the ScanBridge desktop app on your own computer. We designed it so that your scan data never reaches us.

1. What we do not collect

• We do not create user accounts for the app.
• We do not upload your barcodes, scan history, product names or customer data.
• We do not use advertising SDKs or sell personal data.
• We do not access your photos, contacts, location or files.

2. Camera and barcode processing

The Android app uses Google ML Kit barcode scanning to decode barcodes. Image frames are processed on your device and are not uploaded. Only the decoded text you choose to send is transmitted, over your local Wi-Fi, to the desktop app you paired.

3. Data stored on your devices

• Phone: paired PC details, app settings and a local scan history. You can clear this in the app.
• PC: pairing code, output settings, scan history and license status. You can clear scan history in the app.

4. License and purchase data

When you buy a license, our payment processor collects the information needed to process the payment (such as your name, email address, country and payment details). We receive the order confirmation, email address and the license details, not your full card number.

License keys are verified offline by the desktop app using a public-key signature. The app does not send your machine code, scan data or usage to a licensing server. If you contact support we may ask for your machine code and license key to help you.

5. Website data

Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested page) for security and abuse prevention. This site does not use advertising cookies. If we add privacy-friendly analytics later, this policy will be updated and the analytics will not identify you personally.

6. Third-party services

• Payment processor — to sell licenses and handle refunds.
• Email provider — to deliver license keys and support replies.
• Hosting/CDN — to serve this website and downloads.
• Google ML Kit — on-device barcode recognition.

Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. Contact us and we will respond within a reasonable period. Because the app stores scan data only on your devices, deleting the app or clearing its data removes that information.

8. Children

ScanBridge is a business/productivity tool and is not directed at children under 16.

9. Changes

We may update this policy when the product changes. The effective date at the top will be updated.
